Register on the platform in teams of 1 to 3 participants
Competition rules:
Eligibility: The competition is open to student teams in the European Union.
Team composition: The number of members in each team shall not exceed 3.
Dataset: Participants are expected to model the battery operation in compliance with the 2024 regulation in the countries of interest. They will need to deliver the EMS algorithm that can make optimal decisions with a 15-minute resolution.
Algorithm requirements: All teams will be provided with historical market prices for 2024 for all selected countries, as well as BESS specifications for all selected configurations, to be used for simulation and optimization purposes.
The deadline for registration is: September 25th
The selected teams will be informed and the detailed challenge description will be unveiled on August 27th.

First Phase
August 27 - October 1
In this phase, selected teams will work on and submit their codes and results via the platform.
A Sneak Peek into the Challenge:
participants will optimize only day-ahead operation, i.e., will based the
optimal operation based on arbitrage on day-ahead electricity market and capacity bids on FCR and aFRR capacity markets.
Selected teams passing onto the next phase will be announced from the 2nd to the 16th of October.

Second Phase
October 17 - November 2
After the initial selection process, each team will have the opportunity to deploy their algorithm in our cloud environment for testing and evaluation.

Finalists Announced
November 10
Top performing teams will be invited to the Final Competition.
More real operational testing data based on specific scenarios will be given to each team for the Final Competition.

Award Ceremony
November 20
The 10 teams will be invited to the award ceremony in Nuremberg.
These teams will have the opportunity to present their final work to the evaluation committee. The winners in this phase will be selected based on practical quantitative performance metrics. Results will be announced, followed by the distribution of awards.
